Lab Technician, Food Manufacturing & Quality Assurance
Overview
You will own analytical testing for a food manufacturing facility producing frozen and plant-based goods, supporting product safety and compliance. You will run microbiological and chemical analyses, document results under GMP, SOPs, and HACCP, and partner with quality and production teams. This role operates on a fixed second shift, Monday through Friday, in an onsite lab in Elmwood Park, NJ. You will contribute to continuous improvement and uphold regulatory standards in a facility with 30+ years of industry presence.
What You'll Do9
- 1Execute routine and non-routine analytical tests using pH meters, moisture analyzers, and weigh scales to measure sample attributes.
- 2Perform microbiological analyses to verify product safety and compliance with HACCP and GMP standards.
- 3Record all test results and activities accurately, maintaining documentation per SOPs and HACCP requirements.
- 4Adhere to established laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols to ensure reliable, reproducible outcomes.
- 5Support cross-functional investigations by providing analytical data, documentation, and technical insight.
- 6Identify and propose improvements to testing methods, documentation practices, and lab workflows.
- 7Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring safe and correct usage.
- 8Conduct QA and QC testing on ingredients and finished products, including microbiological and chemical inspections.
- 9Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with internal and external standards, including HACCP.
Requirements10
- 11+ years of analytical testing experience in a laboratory, using equipment for pH, moisture, temperature, and weight measurements.
- 2Hands-on experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a lab setting.
- 3Practical knowledge of HACCP principles applied to testing and documentation.
- 4Ability to follow SOPs and quality assurance protocols consistently.
- 5Experience with QA/QC testing of food ingredients and products, including microbiological and chemical analyses.
- 6Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and data integrity.
- 7Effective communication skills to convey analytical findings to cross-functional teams.
- 8Availability for a fixed second-shift schedule (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.).
- 9Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field, or equivalent food manufacturing experience.
- 10SQF experience is preferred but not required.
