Overview
You own the back-of-house experience at Grist House Craft Brewery + Kitchen, a craft brewery and kitchen in Pittsburgh, PA, serving up to 180 guests a day. You handle all non-management kitchen roles: cooking, prepping, expediting, catering, and dishwashing. You work with the Kitchen Manager and Prep/Catering Manager to keep the line running smoothly. You pair food with craft beer, master the smoke and fire techniques, and keep the kitchen spotless for health inspections. What You'll Do8
- 1Execute food prep and line work, managing smoke and fire for sandwiches and pub classics.
- 2Plate every dish to spec with proper portions and presentation, even during Saturday night rushes.
- 3Keep your station clean and sanitized, breaking down and washing dishes to pass health inspections.
- 4Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure beer and food pairings complement each other.
- 5Chop, peel, and prep ingredients with strong knife skills, maintaining consistent cuts.
- 6Monitor and rotate inventory, stocking supplies to keep the kitchen fully loaded for service.
- 7Expedite and juggle multiple line tasks, moving between BOH stations seamlessly when orders spike.
- 8Cater events and handle off-site cooking duties as scheduled.
Requirements10
- 1Some kitchen experience (line cook, prep, catering) preferred but not mandatory.
- 2Solid knife skills and ability to follow complex recipes accurately.
- 3Understanding of food safety and hygiene; ServSafe certification a huge plus.
- 4Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-casual environment.
- 5Positive attitude, clear communication, and willingness to give and receive feedback.
- 6Reliable with consistent availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- 7Reliable transportation to commute to Oakdale / Collier, PA.
- 8At least 18 years old; 21+ preferred for beer service.
- 9Physical stamina: stand and move for 8+ hours, lift up to 65 lbs safely.
- 10Comfortable working with heat, sharp knives, and open flames.
