Junior Accountant Chicago Position
Overview
We seek a motivated junior accountant to join our Chicago team. The role involves owning accounting tasks at a significant scale. Our team collaborates with the Financial Controller to drive financial processes. This position differs by offering broader responsibilities and growth potential toward staff roles.
What You'll Do11
- 1Build and post journal entries
- 2Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- 3Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- 4Support general ledger accounting and financial record integrity
- 5Resolve bank reconciling items
- 6Prepare schedules for prepaid expenses and fixed assets
- 7Handle sales tax filings and compliance reporting
- 8Maintain organized records and documentation
- 9Participate in external audits and internal reporting
- 10Identify process improvements for ERP systems
- 11Contribute to process enhancement initiatives
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 21-3 years of accounting experience
- 3Foundational knowledge of general ledger accounting
- 4Experience preparing and posting journal entries
- 5Exposure to account reconciliations
- 6Basic understanding of financial statements
- 7Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
- 8Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- 9Experience in small or mid-sized company settings
- 10Audit support experience
- 11Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems
