Instructional Assistant, Elementary School at KIPP DC
Overview

You will work alongside lead teachers to implement small group and one-on-one instruction within a safe, structured environment. What You'll Do10
- 1Build Strong Relationships and Classroom Culture with students, families, and teammates to support mission and antiracist practice
- 2Instructional Support delivering specialized whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction to students with special education needs
- 3Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and collaborate with the student support team and teachers as needed
- 4Professional Collaboration, Development, and Feedback through staff meetings and coaching sessions
- 5Schoolwide Duties such as assisting with personal hygiene, meals, transitions, and events with a professional demeanor
- 6Assist in implementing behavioral and academic strategies from a child’s IEP to improve outcomes
- 7Observe students and document anecdotal notes to inform planning and grouping
- 8Maintain flexible responsibilities as school needs evolve
- 9Support family-teacher conferences, open houses, and community events
- 10Deliver instruction onsite during standard school hours 8:00 am to 3:30 pm with related duties included
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED
- 2Commitment to serving students from communities with limited access to high-quality education
- 3Ability to assist reading, writing, and mathematics instruction
- 4Strong communication skills with families and caregivers
- 5Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to new tasks
- 6Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
- 7Preferred: Experience as an Aide, Assistant, or Paraprofessional with students who have special needs
- 8Experience in an urban K–12 public school setting
- 9Must be able to remain in a classroom environment for extended periods
- 10Must be able to monitor students throughout the school building
