Instructional Assistant II TK/K Aide, Elementary Education & Classroom Support
Overview
This role supports a certified teacher by providing instructional assistance in a TK/K setting at a District elementary site. You will work with students in small groups and classrooms to help meet standards of conduct and learning objectives. The position operates 183 days annually, onsite, with a Monday through Friday schedule
What You'll Do10
- 1Build supportive classroom environments and assist with transitions from home to school
- 2Deliver modified TK curriculum and learning activities under teacher direction to support readiness goals
- 3Evaluate student readiness and tailor instructional approaches to age and ability
- 4Tutor students in spelling, reading, and written language and reinforce study skills
- 5Record attendance, collect data and maintain classroom documentation
- 6Assist with lesson materials, copying, typing, and clerical tasks to support instruction
- 7Support safety and supervision during meals and playground activities
- 8Supervise or assist with lunch and recess to ensure safe, positive student behavior
- 9Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage appropriate behavior and diversity awareness
- 10Escort students as needed and accompany teachers on field trips
Requirements9
- 1Some experience with school-age children in formal or informal settings
- 2Formal or informal education or training enabling reading and writing at required level
- 3Twelfth grade completion or equivalent
- 4CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
- 5Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
- 6Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently
- 7Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with students and staff
- 8Willingness to perform routine clerical duties and assist with classroom tasks
- 9Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment
