Home Visitor, Head Start & Early Childhood Education
Overview
You'll own a caseload of 12 families in Los Angeles County, conducting weekly home visits that directly shape child development and parent engagement under the Head Start framework. You'll partner with the Child Development Supervisor to integrate educational services, health, and family support into each home. What You'll Do10
- 1Conduct weekly 1.5-hour home visits for each of 12 families, following the Head Start Home-Based Curriculum.
- 2Plan and lead two group socialization sessions monthly, supervising children and modeling safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
- 3Build individualized lesson plans that target each child's social, cognitive, language, physical, and emotional growth.
- 4Perform monthly observations and complete child assessments using approved Head Start tools to track progress.
- 5Coach parents to identify everyday home experiences as educational activities, strengthening their role as first teacher.
- 6Maintain accurate attendance, child records, and reports, ensuring confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
- 7Coordinate with MAOF staff on health, nutrition, and family services to address each family's needs.
- 8Facilitate Head Start Home-Based Committee meetings and participate in required trainings and professional development.
- 9Communicate with families in their preferred language, including Spanish, to ensure full engagement and understanding.
- 10Support program centers by providing classroom coverage or substitute teaching as needed.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field.
- 224 semester units in child development or early childhood education.
- 3Valid California Children's Center Permit or Child Development Teacher Permit.
- 42+ years paid experience working with preschool-age children.
- 5Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
- 6Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
- 7Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- 8Pass background check, Live Scan, health screening, TB test, immunizations, Pediatric First Aid, and CPR clearances.
