Overview

The role owns maintenance, inspection, and repair of heavy equipment at a busy scrapyard. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across multiple machines and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. This onsite position collaborates with operators and management and requires safe operation in an industrial setting. You will respond to emergencies in shop or field and keep accurate maintenance records.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment, forklifts, trucks, balers, crushers, shredders, and other machinery
  • 2Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • 3Respond to emergency repair requests in both shop and field to keep operations running
  • 4Order and replace parts including brakes, batteries, hydraulic components, tires, and electrical systems
  • 5Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for traceability and compliance
  • 6Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines to protect personnel and equipment
  • 7Collaborate with operators and management to ensure equipment remains safe and operational
  • 8Recordkeeping and basic computer/mobile app tasks for maintenance tracking
  • 9Communicate maintenance needs and outcomes clearly to team members
  • 10Demonstrate attention to detail and problem-solving in diagnosing issues

Requirements10

  • 1Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment
  • 2Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • 3Experience using hand tools and diagnostic equipment
  • 4Ability to work in physically demanding environments and various weather conditions
  • 5Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • 6Valid driver's license (preferred)
  • 7Basic computer or mobile app experience for maintenance tracking is a plus
  • 8Preferred experience in scrapyards, construction, agricultural, or industrial settings
  • 9Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • 10Ability to work independently and as part of a team
