Overview
A Heavy Equipment Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of construction and earthmoving equipment in a shop setting at scale in the northeast. You will work on equipment including excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, graders, trucks, pavers, backhoes, and telehandlers. You will follow service manuals, perform preventive maintenance, and document repairs clearly. This role offers hands on training and a direct path to mastery working with OEM equipment and complex hydraulic and electrical systems.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and diagnose mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues on excavators and wheel loaders to restore uptime within 90 days
- 2Repair and maintain off road equipment including dozers graders and dump trucks with attention to safety and quality metrics
- 3Perform preventive maintenance tasks and component replacements to extend asset life and reduce downtime
- 4Read and interpret service manuals schematics and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate repairs
- 5Document repairs and parts usage in the maintenance system with clear records and parts tracking
- 6Collaborate with shop team to prioritize repairs and support on site projects
- 7Scale maintenance operations by following standard procedures and communicating progress to supervisors
- 8Adhere to safety protocols and environmental requirements during all maintenance activities
- 9Train peers on best practices for diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
- 10Provide feedback on maintenance processes to improve reliability and service efficiency
Requirements5
- 13–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience
- 2Strong diesel hydraulic and electrical systems knowledge
- 3OEM dealership experience preferred (CAT John Deere Komatsu Volvo CASE Hitachi etc.)
- 4High school diploma or technical certificate
- 5Ability to read service manuals and electrical schematics
