Head of NORAM Technical Account Management
Overview
You will own and scale the NORAM Technical Account Management team at Checkout.com, serving merchants like Uber, Spotify, and Klarna. Reporting to the Head of NORAM Solutions Engineering, you will lead strategic direction, operational execution, and rapid headcount growth. You will champion AI tools to automate workflows and drive efficiency, while partnering closely with Commercial Account Management to protect and expand revenue. This role offers a unique blend of technical leadership, commercial impact, and team building in a fast-growing fintech environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead, coach, and scale a team of high-performing Technical Account Managers, driving regional recruitment and expansion efforts.
- 2Work from the local office (Atlanta, NYC, or SF) 3 days a week to provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to TAM Individual Contributors.
- 3Synthesize company goals and OKRs, translating them into clear, tactical guidance and actionable metrics for your team.
- 4Manage team compensation plans, performance reviews, and career development pathways.
- 5Travel across NORAM offices and the London office to collaborate with key internal stakeholders and align global strategies.
- 6Act as the technical counterpart to Commercial Account Management leadership, ensuring unified strategies for merchant success.
- 7Drive regional project management for key initiatives, such as product upgrades and adoption of value-added services.
- 8Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and present technical performance as a compelling commercial story to executive stakeholders.
- 9Act as an escalation point, assisting TAMs with troubleshooting complex merchant issues and API integrations.
- 10Champion a culture of utilizing AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude Code) to reduce manual operational load, automate workflows, and improve daily efficiency.
Requirements6
- 1Deep payments industry experience is a strict requirement.
- 2Proven experience in client-facing TAM, Solutions Engineering, or Solutions Consulting leadership, or exceptional IC experience with readiness to step into management.
- 3Technical background with hands-on expertise in RESTful APIs.
- 4Forward-thinking approach to championing AI tools to scale teams and eliminate manual bottlenecks.
- 5Exceptional ability to collaborate with commercial teams and understand the revenue impact of technical decisions.
