HDD Foreman (Horizontal Directional Drilling)
Overview
Lead horizontal directional drilling operations across the DFW metro area for GAC Enterprises LLC. You will be the primary field leader on assigned bores, reading prints, evaluating locates, organizing your crew, and maintaining safety while ensuring production continues without compromising quality. This is a hands‑on foreman role where you develop talent and drive results.
What You'll Do11
- 1Plan and execute daily HDD activities including bore planning setup drilling pullback potholing and restoration
- 2Lead, train, and develop HDD crew members establishing high standards of accountability and professionalism
- 3Conduct daily toolbox talks and Job Hazard Analyses set production goals and enforce safety protocols
- 4Read and interpret technical prints utility plans permits and locate data
- 5Coordinate with construction managers inspectors utility owners and locators to keep projects on schedule
- 6Identify issues early resolve them on site and deliver clean on‑time on‑spec work
- 7Enforce OSHA and GAC safety standards correct unsafe conditions immediately and maintain zero‑incident culture
- 8Maintain drills locators vacuum equipment and support gear through daily inspections and preventive maintenance
- 9Supervise equipment operation cleaning fueling and securing machinery
- 10Process timecards approve daily production reports and submit field documentation promptly
- 11Coach crew members to build GAC’s next generation of foremen
Requirements11
- 15+ years leading HDD crews as a foreman in underground utility construction
- 2Deep, hands‑on experience with HDD equipment and subsurface ground conditions
- 3Background in fiber telecom or underground utility projects
- 4Strong leadership communication and problem‑solving abilities
- 5Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- 6Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check
- 7Experience with Vermeer and Ditch Witch HDD rigs preferred
- 8Gas or power construction vacuum excavation and utility locating experience preferred
- 9Crew scheduling and customer relations skills a plus
- 10CDL required with additional points for a commercial driver’s license
