What You'll Do11

  • 1Lead Advanced Hardware Design: Drive the design, validation, and debugging of analog, power, and embedded board-level electronic systems.
  • 2Develop High-Speed Interfaces: Create Rocket I/O, Ethernet, PCI-e, DDR, RS-422, and LVDS interfaces for FPGAs, microcontrollers, and memory devices used in spacecraft systems.
  • 3Design Power Systems: Develop linear and high-efficiency switching power supplies meeting demanding board-level voltage and current requirements.
  • 4Guide PCB Layout: Provide expert direction for stack-up configuration, impedance control, signal and power integrity, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • 5Perform Advanced Analyses: Conduct SPICE simulations and signal/power integrity analysis for radiation and space environment robustness.
  • 6Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work with software, firmware, mechanical, and systems teams for seamless hardware integration and performance alignment.
  • 7Document and Review: Develop and review detailed design documentation including specifications, Interface Control Documents, test procedures, and user manuals.
  • 8Support Manufacturing and Test: Lead troubleshooting, system integration, and test automation using Linux, Python, PowerShell, or VHDL reference designs.
  • 9Ensure Compliance: Oversee component selection and validation for radiation, EMI/EMC, and space-grade reliability requirements.
  • 10Mentor and Lead: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and improve design processes and methodologies.
  • 11Drive Continuous Improvement: Contribute to mission-critical hardware development and foster collaborative engineering culture.

Requirements9

  • 15+ years designing and developing complex embedded and board-level electronic hardware
  • 2Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
  • 3Strong background in high-speed digital and analog circuit design including FPGAs, microprocessors, and memory architectures
  • 4Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or HyperLynx
  • 5Proficiency in signal and power integrity analysis, impedance control, and EMI/EMC compliance
  • 6Familiarity with radiation testing, space-grade component selection, and thermal management
  • 7Hands-on experience developing test automation scripts (Python, PowerShell) or reference designs (Linux, VHDL)
  • 8Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • 9Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
