Overview
Design and lead development of ground support equipment and test systems for flight hardware qualification. Own end-to-end systems from electrical design to commissioning. Impact architecture decisions and establish standards for real-time control implementation. Partner with cross-functional teams to meet aggressive timelines while championing sustainable engineering practices.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build proprietary test infrastructure qualifying spaceflight hardware for orbit
- 2Design and integrate sophisticated ground support equipment and test systems
- 3Develop and extend PLC framework and EtherCAT tooling in-house
- 4Integrate diverse external hardware including thermal vacuum chambers and precision instrumentation
- 5Drive architecture decisions on real-time control implementation using TwinCAT 3 and Linux-based approaches
- 6Construct cabinets and wire panels from electrical design through commissioning
- 7Collaborate with propulsion avionics and manufacturing teams to deliver qualified test infrastructure
- 8Champion sustainable engineering practices for rapid onboarding and reliable production systems
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 22+ years industry experience in test automation controls or industrial automation
- 3Hands-on experience with EtherCAT Modbus RS-232/485 serial or similar protocols
- 4Proficiency with modern PLC ecosystems especially Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 with structured text
- 5Ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environment with end-to-end problem ownership

$109 - $153k per year
