Grants Data Analyst, Budget & Grant Analytics
Overview
The Grants Data Analyst owns data analysis and reporting for budgets, grants, and compliance across multiple federal programs at the Arizona Department of Education. You will work with finance, program areas, and external partners to ensure accurate allocation, reporting, and fund management at scale. This hybrid role blends data analysis, visualization, and training to improve grant processes and compliance. The team values collaboration, data-driven decision making, and proactive communication with Local Education Agencies.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build monthly budget status reports and propose amendments to optimize grant allocations
- 2Analyze and visualiz e data to support financial recommendations and identify variances
- 3Prepare Ad hoc data analyses and projects for internal stakeholders
- 4Coordinate and communicate allocation information to Local Education Agencies with clear data visuals
- 5Lead the ESSA Conference organization and final product development
- 6Develop professional learning opportunities on state and federal budgeting and funding compliance
- 7Support compliance with CSPR EdFacts and EDGAR requirements
- 8Perform reconciliations for Local Education Agency grant allocations to ensure accuracy
- 9Collaborate with Directors on reporting projects and process improvements
- 10Archive allocation files and maintain supporting documentation
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor’s degree in business public administration finance accounting or related field or equivalent experience
- 2Three or more years of budgetary and grant operations experience preferred
- 3Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Access and data visualization tools such as Power BI
- 4Strong quantitative analysis and data research capabilities
- 5Ability to communicate findings clearly and work under minimal supervision
