Global Conflict Analyst
Overview
CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program seeks a Global Conflict Analyst to manage the Global Conflict Tracker and support the Wachenheim Center for Peace and Security. The role involves researching conflicts in Africa and the Middle East contributing to data visualization and promoting the GCT through social media and newsletters while managing project budgets and assisting fellow researchers. Effective Monday September 14 2026 requires onsite presence four days weekly.
What You'll Do8
- 1Conduct research on ongoing and emerging conflicts focusing on Africa and the Middle East
- 2Contribute to development of new data visualization products for the GCT
- 3Track and fact-check news related to GCT pages
- 4Edit and proofread content
- 5Create social media and newsletter content to promote the GCT
- 6Track and manage project budgets including grant information reporting and voucher preparation
- 7Assist WCPS team and other fellows with event coordination travel planning and logistics
- 8Perform any additional duties as assigned
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in security studies international relations area studies or related field with Master’s preferred
- 2Minimum three years of related work experience
- 3Knowledge of conflict dynamics in Africa or the Middle East
- 4Familiarity with conflict-related data sources such as Datawrapper ArcGIS and QGIS
- 5Proficiency with data visualization tools and data analysis techniques
- 6Strong fact-checking and sourcing abilities
- 7Experience with website content management systems
- 8Ability to produce clear policy-relevant analysis for non-specialist audiences
- 9Excellent time management and project management skills
- 10Creativity flexibility attention to detail

$63 - $70k per year
