Overview

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs seeks a dynamic Program Officer to lead public programming initiatives. This role reports to the Assistant Director and collaborates with strategic content teams. The ideal candidate brings expertise in event logistics and audience development.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Conduct research on global affairs topics and emerging issues to inform program development
  • 2Draft program materials including run-of-show documents and moderator remarks
  • 3Own full logistical arc of public programming from speaker coordination to on-site execution
  • 4Serve as primary point of contact for speaker questions and troubleshooting
  • 5Support private and digital strategic programming initiatives across the team
  • 6Recruit and manage event staffing while leading day-of operations
  • 7Manage registration inbox and publish program pages using Cvent and CMS platforms
  • 8Coordinate with external vendors and arrange security logistics for events
  • 9Prepare event materials and maintain attendance tracking metrics
  • 10Identify prospective audiences and develop outreach strategies for programming
  • 11Maintain program budgets and process expense reimbursements

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor's degree in international relations political science or related field with 2+ years relevant experience
  • 2Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple high-stakes initiatives
  • 3Proven experience in event coordination program operations or administrative support roles
  • 4Excellent research and analytical abilities with attention to detail
  • 5Professional communication skills for drafting materials and managing stakeholder relationships
  • 6Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and event registration platforms like Cvent
  • 7Experience with AirTable Salesforce CRM systems and budgeting tools
