As a Geotechnical Engineer on our team in Aberdeen, Maryland, you'll own geotechnical design, testing, and monitoring for projects across Maryland, Virginia, DC, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. You'll collaborate with engineers across 5+ HCEA offices, handling everything from AutoCAD designs to field instrumentation. What You'll Do9

  • 1Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and geotechnical design plans using AutoCAD and Excel for projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • 2Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions, supporting project designs with SLOPE/W or similar tools.
  • 3Analyze laboratory and field data from SPT borings and CPT soundings, integrating results into engineering reports.
  • 4Review and interpret geotechnical test results, ensuring data accuracy for foundation and earthwork designs.
  • 5Write field reports, internal correspondence, and engineering reports, following company and site safety standards.
  • 6Contact vendors, research regulatory requirements, and prepare designs for shoring, dewatering, and foundation systems.
  • 7Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities including inclinometers and piezometers.
  • 8Develop and maintain client relationships, engaging with professional organizations to foster business growth.
  • 9Prepare technical specifications and day-to-day correspondence to keep projects on track.

Requirements8

  • 1B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; M.S. preferred
  • 25-10 years of related geotechnical engineering experience
  • 3P.E. license preferred
  • 4Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • 5Valid driver's license with willingness to travel and work out of town for short periods
  • 6Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse rugged terrain
  • 7Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 8Self-starter with enthusiasm for delivering excellent client service
