Consolidate HR and office operations under one owner while managing day-to-day engineering office activities. This broad role requires building and leading the function as the company expands to 30+ employees.

What You'll Do12

  • 1Own full employee lifecycle from requisition to offboarding with thorough documentation
  • 2Execute end-to-end recruiting including ATS management and candidate experience
  • 3Administer payroll benefits and compliance including payroll processing and leave administration
  • 4Maintain HR compliance records and ensure regulatory reporting accuracy
  • 5Drive performance and compensation cycles with objective setting and equity documentation
  • 6Coordinate office logistics such as vendor management and facility setup
  • 7Plan and execute company events within budget and logistics constraints
  • 8Develop scalable systems and processes for HR and facilities management
  • 9Act as cultural steward and transparent communicator with leadership and new hires
  • 10Handle sensitive personnel information with discretion and judgment
  • 11Operate autonomously in a startup environment prioritizing outcomes over supervision
  • 12Support transition from informal practices to formalized infrastructure

Requirements10

  • 15–10+ years combined HR generalist and office management experience
  • 2Proven track record in companies under 100 employees
  • 3Hands-on payroll and benefits administration through third-party providers
  • 4Knowledge of federal and Virginia employment law with practical judgment
  • 5Certification such as SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR
  • 6Experience with equity administration platforms like Carta
  • 7Background in aerospace defense or government contracting environments
  • 8Understanding of SBIR/STTR funding and cleared personnel requirements
  • 9Ability to lead technical recruiting for specialized engineering roles
  • 10Prior experience with office build-out and relocation projects
