Front Desk Patient Services Representative, Orthopedic Immediate Care
Overview
Own the patient front desk experience at Ortho OIC Orthopaedic Immediate Care, a busy orthopedic clinic. You will manage check-in, insurance verification, scheduling, and payments. You will work PRN weekends, supporting a collaborative clinical team. This role is the face of the clinic, setting the tone for quality care.
What You'll Do9
- 1Greet and check in/out patients from the moment they arrive, verifying demographics and insurance details in EPIC or similar EMR.
- 2Collect co-pays and outstanding balances at the time of service, balancing the cash drawer daily.
- 3Schedule and confirm patient appointments using the practice management system, sending reminders to reduce no-shows.
- 4Answer a multi-line phone system, routing calls to the right staff and taking accurate messages.
- 5Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before each visit to prevent claim denials and surprise bills.
- 6Scan, file, and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- 7Manage the waiting room flow, communicating wait times proactively to patients and families.
- 8Process referral requests and work note requests from patients and clinical staff, following up on outcomes.
- 9Keep the front office and lobby spotless, stocking forms and supplies for smooth daily operations.
Requirements8
- 11+ years of front desk or receptionist experience in a healthcare setting such as a clinic, hospital, or urgent care.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3Experience with EPIC, eClinicalWorks, or another EMR system and insurance verification processes.
- 4Excellent customer service and phone etiquette, with a professional and calm demeanor under pressure.
- 5Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate patient data entry and record keeping.
- 6Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment, handling multiple check-ins and calls simultaneously.
- 7Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance concepts.
- 8Proficient with computers, standard office equipment, and Microsoft Office.
