Foster Care and Adoption Case Manager
Overview
Lead a diverse team to deliver high-quality services to children awaiting adoption. You will manage case loads up to 13:1 while ensuring safety and stability for each child. This role emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and a supportive environment focused on lasting family connections.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and implement behavioral plans aligned with the Parent Agency Agreement
- 2Conduct home visits and coordinate with community partners to support families
- 3Supervise adoption processes including pre-placement assessments and post-adoption follow‑ups
- 4Collaborate with court officials and social workers to ensure timely placement decisions
- 5Provide crisis intervention and counseling for children, families, and foster caregivers
- 6Maintain detailed documentation and prepare regulatory reports for MDHHS
- 7Develop training materials and lead workshops for staff on best practices
- 8Facilitate support groups and promote DEI initiatives within the workplace
- 9Drive community outreach events to engage families and potential adoptive parents
Requirements9
- 15+ years experience in child welfare case management
- 2Master’s or bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
- 3Child Welfare Training Institute (CWTI) certification
- 4Proven ability to manage caseloads with a maximum ratio of 13:1
- 5Experience with adoption processes and understanding of Michigan family law
- 6Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative partnerships
- 7Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and belonging in all interactions
- 8Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license and liability insurance
- 9Willingness to travel to homes and court locations as needed
