Overview

Own batch sampling, testing, and in-house microbiological program at Northwest Naturals with scale from production to co-manufacturers. You will work closely with the Quality Manager and cross-functional teams in Bothell, WA on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This 1-year contract offers hands-on lab work, formula documentation, and process support to ensure consistent product safety and flavor profiles.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and execute batch sampling plans to ensure quality and safety attributes across products.
  • 2Document formulas, specifications, and SOPs with precision and traceability.
  • 3Maintain and communicate results from the in-house microbiological testing program.
  • 4Organize raw materials and coordinate with production and QA to ensure compliance.
  • 5Support HACCP and GFSI related activities and keep records up to date.
  • 6Collaborate with sales and management to interpret findings and implement improvements.
  • 7Assist with training and onboarding of new lab staff or interns as needed.
  • 8Ensure documentation, tools, and lab equipment are properly maintained.
  • 9Prepare reports for audits and internal reviews to demonstrate compliance.
  • 10Assist with special projects related to product quality and process optimization.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree in a science-related discipline preferred.
  • 2Minimum of one year of experience in food science focusing on preparing and testing samples and ensuring quality.
  • 3Prior training and/or experience in HACCP and GFSI preferred.
  • 4Knowledge of lab equipment, process equipment, and product testing requirements.
  • 5Understanding of GMP and food laws and regulations.
  • 6Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • 7Strong mathematical and scientific calculation skills
  • 8Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • 9Ability to organize, plan, and execute effectively while handling confidential information
  • 10Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams
