Firewall Engineer, Fortinet Firewalls & Cloud Networking
Overview
Own and operate secure, scalable network infrastructure across on premise and cloud environments for a high-demand Dallas area team. You will design, implement, and optimize firewall policies and automation workflows at scale. You will collaborate with cloud engineers and network operations to ensure low latency, high availability, and compliant security postures. This role emphasizes hands-on firewall engineering, cloud networking, and automation to accelerate incident response and change management.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and deploy Fortinet firewall policies and architecture to support business applications
- 2Design and implement automation workflows for network provisioning using Ansible and Terraform
- 3Operate and optimize network connectivity across Azure and AWS environments for scalable performance
- 4Lead incident response and change management with measurable improvements in MTTR
- 5Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate routing like BGP and OSPF in multicloud deployments
- 6Script and test infrastructure changes to reduce manual toil and errors
- 7Document network topology and security controls for audit readiness
- 8Mentor junior engineers and promote best practice in firewall engineering and security automation
- 9Tune firewall rules and network paths to improve throughput and reduce risk
Requirements8
- 1Senior network engineering background with strong firewall experience
- 2Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls and other vendor platforms (Palo Alto, Cisco)
- 3Strong cloud networking skills in Azure and AWS
- 4Scripting experience with Ansible and Terraform for automation
- 5Experience with switch fabric such as Arista or Cisco in datacenter environments
- 6Proficiency with routing protocols like BGP and OSPF
- 7Understanding of network security principles and incident response processes
- 8Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a hybrid, long-term contract setting
