Cyber Security Engineer, Firewall & Network Security
Overview
You will own the security of enterprise network infrastructure, cutting attack surface across Firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS. You will report to the Security Operations Manager, working alongside network engineers and incident responders. This contract role focuses on hardening defenses, automating compliance checks, and reducing mean time to respond.
What You'll Do7
- 1Deploy Firewall rules to enforce zero-trust segmentation across production and corporate networks.
- 2Harden VPN and remote access gateways, eliminating legacy protocols and enforcing MFA.
- 3Automate security baseline checks with Python or PowerShell to detect drift from CIS standards.
- 4Lead incident response for network-based threats, isolating compromised hosts within 30 minutes.
- 5Integrate SIEM alerts with SOAR playbooks to triage and escalate critical events.
- 6Partner with DevOps to secure cloud workloads in AWS and Azure, applying security groups and IAM policies.
- 7Document security procedures and maintain runbooks for firewall administration and network changes.
Requirements7
- 13+ years in cybersecurity, with focus on network security and firewall management.
- 2Hands-on with Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or Fortinet firewalls.
- 3Experience tuning IPS/IDS signatures and analyzing traffic logs.
- 4Familiarity with SIEM platforms: Splunk, QRadar, or Sentinel.
- 5Scripting ability in Bash or Python for security automation.
- 6Solid grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and network protocol analysis.
- 7Relevant certification: CISSP, CEH, or CCNP Security.
