Overview
You'll own field repairs and troubleshooting for PALFINGER truck-mounted cranes and forklifts across Pittsburgh, with full autonomy in diagnostics and service decisions. You'll work remote, reporting to the Regional Field Service Manager, and serve a base of industrial and construction clients. This role demands deep hydraulic and electrical expertise, plus a CDL to handle emergency calls and DOT inspections. What You'll Do7
- 1Repair and troubleshoot articulating cranes and truck-mounted forklifts on site, using hydraulic and electrical schematics to isolate faults.
- 2Perform quarterly preventive maintenance and annual DOT inspections, documenting findings and completing service records within 24 hours.
- 3Respond to emergency breakdowns during off-hours, restoring equipment uptime for fleet managers with minimal supervision.
- 4Communicate repair estimates and parts requirements to job site coordinators, securing work order authorization before starting major jobs.
- 5Order and record parts, labor, and inventory in the service management system, keeping asset records audit-ready.
- 6Maintain a clean, organized service truck and job site, complying with OSHA and state safety regulations.
- 7Weld and fabricate mounting brackets and repair structural damage on cranes, using MIG and stick welding techniques.
Requirements7
- 13+ years of mechanical experience with articulating cranes and forklifts, including hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
- 2Valid CDL license or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
- 3Proficiency in welding, including MIG and stick, for structural repairs.
- 4Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- 5Strong diagnostic skills using multimeters and pressure gauges to test circuits and hydraulic flows.
- 6Own set of hand and power tools, with PALFINGER proprietary tools provided.
- 7English fluency required for reading service manuals and communicating with customers.
