Field Service Technician, Electrical Power Systems & NETA Prep
Overview
Own field testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power equipment across low, medium, and high voltage systems at customer sites. You will travel regionally, work hands-on, and grow toward NETA certification within a safety‑driven environment. Collaborate with a field crew and learn specialized testing tools while advancing technical proficiency. This role is onsite in Fayetteville, GA with periodic travel to Nashville for safety trainings and certification groups.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and perform electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance on power systems at customer sites to ensure reliability and safety.
- 2Diagnose equipment issues using schematics and technical manuals and verify system performance after repairs.
- 3Document test results, maintenance activities, and field findings clearly for reporting and records.
- 4Support testing of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, PTs, CCVTs, CTs, and related apparatus with specialized equipment.
- 5Follow safety policies and participate in job site safety meetings to minimize risk.
- 6Travel locally and regionally to project sites and coordinate with lead technician on-site.
- 7Interact professionally with customers and communicate work performed and findings effectively.
- 8Progress toward NETA certification through training sessions and groups.
- 9Maintain readiness for overtime and flexible scheduling to meet project deadlines.
- 10Contribute to continuous improvement of field operations through feedback and learning.
Requirements10
- 16+ years of experience in electrical power, utility, industrial, electrical contractor, or related environments.
- 2Hands-on experience with electrical systems, equipment, or power distribution.
- 3Experience with testing, commissioning, or maintenance of power systems and equipment.
- 4Willingness to work 95% of time in field environments.
- 5Experience with low, medium, and high voltage systems and associated apparatus.
- 6Familiarity with testing equipment such as Megger testers, Ductor sets, Hi-Pot, power factor, and CT ratio testing.
- 7Strong safety awareness and adherence to electrical safety practices.
- 8NETA certification or equivalent experience or strong interest in pursuing NETA accreditation.
- 9Willingness to travel locally and regionally and to work 5–10 hours overtime weekly.
- 10Data center experience and ongoing professional development toward NETA certification are a plus.
