Overview

You will own onsite commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup for industrial automation and web-handling systems. You'll work with Rockwell Automation PLCs, PowerFlex drives, and FactoryTalk View HMIs in active manufacturing environments. You'll join a team of field engineers serving customers across the region, with strong mentorship and growth in a niche controls niche. What You'll Do10

  • 1Troubleshoot Rockwell Automation platforms including Studio 5000, Logix Designer, ControlLogix, and CompactLogix in live production.
  • 2Diagnose PLC logic, ladder logic, control sequences, I/O signals, interlocks, and machine alarms.
  • 3Configure and commission PowerFlex VFDs, specifically PowerFlex 525, 753, and 755.
  • 4Read and interpret electrical schematics and field-wiring diagrams to perform electrical diagnostics.
  • 5Tune PID loops and troubleshoot tension control systems with dancers, load cells, and cascade strategies.
  • 6Support EtherNet/IP networks, IP addressing, and managed switches for device connectivity.
  • 7Lead web-handling system troubleshooting: winders, unwinds, driven rolls, and sectional drives.
  • 8Calibrate load cells, signal conditioners, and tension amplifiers for accurate feedback.
  • 9Document field service reports with root causes and corrective actions for customer follow-up.
  • 10Work independently at customer sites, following all industrial safety protocols.

Requirements10

  • 1Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Controls Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 23+ years in industrial automation, field service, or equipment commissioning.
  • 3Hands-on troubleshooting with Rockwell Automation PLCs, including ControlLogix or CompactLogix.
  • 4Working knowledge of Studio 5000 and Logix Designer for ladder logic programming.
  • 5Experience commissioning PowerFlex drives or similar industrial VFD systems.
  • 6Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings proficiently.
  • 7Proven skills in electrical diagnostics: motors, encoders, analog signals, and control panels.
  • 8Working knowledge of EtherNet/IP and industrial Ethernet networks.
  • 9Strong analytical and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • 10Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
