Field Safety Representative, Commercial Construction
Overview
You will own health and safety on a 4-month commercial construction project near Charlotte, NC, enforcing OSHA standards across all job sites. You'll develop and execute Health and Safety Policies for a large construction client, working Monday-Friday, 5-10 day shifts. Your decisions shape incident prevention and compliance for the entire project. This contract role offers per diem for non-local candidates, with direct impact on site safety.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop site-specific Health and Safety Policies tailored to the construction project, aligning with OSHA regulations and client requirements.
- 2Enforce safety protocols daily across all job sites, conducting inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- 3Lead safety orientations and toolbox talks for new workers and subcontractors, emphasizing hazard recognition and prevention.
- 4Investigate incidents and near-misses, documenting root causes and implementing corrective actions within 48 hours.
- 5Audit subcontractor safety programs and equipment, issuing corrective actions for non-compliance.
- 6Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety into work plans, advising on high-risk activities like excavation and heavy equipment use.
- 7Track safety metrics and prepare weekly reports for client and company leadership, highlighting trends and improvement areas.
- 8Coordinate with local emergency services and regulatory agencies during inspections or incidents.
Requirements7
- 17+ years of commercial construction experience as a safety professional, with proven ability to enforce OSHA standards.
- 2Bachelor's degree in health and safety, risk management, occupational safety, or construction preferred.
- 3CHST certification strongly preferred.
- 4OSHA 510 certification strongly preferred.
- 5In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- 6Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to project sites.
- 7Ability to work Monday-Friday, 5-10 shifts, and respond to site emergencies as needed.
