Safety Coordinator, Construction (OSHA, CHST)
Overview
You will own safety program support and jobsite inspections for a mechanical contractor running active construction projects across Minneapolis. OSHA 30 certification is required within 10 days, and CHST is a plus. You will work with field crews and leadership to sustain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. This role stands out for hands-on mentorship and exposure to varied mechanical construction sites.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and implement company safety programs and site-specific safety plans.
- 2Conduct weekly safety inspections on active construction job sites, identifying hazards and correcting at-risk behaviors.
- 3Coach field and office employees on safety practices and regulatory compliance.
- 4Ensure compliance with OSHA and State/Federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- 5Lead safety training sessions and new hire orientations using Microsoft PowerPoint and other tools.
- 6Update company safety policies and procedures to reflect current regulations.
- 7Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, documenting root causes and corrective actions.
- 8Manage workers' compensation, property, and general liability claims in coordination with leadership.
- 9Audit jobsites for hazard recognition using Microsoft Excel checklists and report findings to field leadership.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Safety, or related field preferred.
- 22+ years of dedicated construction safety experience, ideally in HVAC or mechanical commercial construction.
- 3CHST certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- 4OSHA 30 certification preferred, or completion within first 10 days of employment.
- 5Working knowledge of State and Federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- 6Comfortable visiting active construction sites and communicating directly with field personnel.
- 7Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- 8Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 9Self-motivated with ability to take initiative without direction.
