Facilities Engineer Manager, Mechanical HVAC Projects
Overview
Lead mechanical facilities engineering at RTX's Andover MA site, owning HVAC design, construction projects, and building system upgrades across a 185,000-person aerospace and defense enterprise. Manage projects from concept through closeout, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors. Drive continuous improvement in building performance and reliability. This role offers direct impact on mission-critical facilities and requires active DoD Confidential clearance.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own mechanical building system projects: troubleshoot HVAC, support building controls, renovate offices, fit up labs, install manufacturing equipment.
- 2Drive projects from design through bid, construction, and closeout, with estimating and scheduling using Microsoft Project.
- 3Calculate heat loads, size equipment, and design heating/cooling systems with AutoCAD and REVIT.
- 4Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural, civil, IT, and security disciplines.
- 5Produce diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, and bid documents.
- 6Meet with internal customers to develop continuous improvement projects and coordination studies.
- 7Interface with IT, safety, security, trade workers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- 8Travel within eastern MA, southern NH, and RI, with occasional domestic and international consulting.
Requirements6
- 18+ years in building mechanical engineering with a bachelor's in mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent work/schooling.
- 28+ years working knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fan coil units, VAV systems, compressed air, and nitrogen systems.
- 3Experience in construction project management: scoping, budgeting, scheduling, contractor coordination, commissioning, close-out.
- 4Ability to write clear technical engineering specs, reports, and procedures.
- 5Active DoD Confidential security clearance required after day 1.
- 6U.S. citizenship required for security clearance.
