Estimator, Construction Cost & Feasibility Studies
Overview
You will own detailed quantity take-offs and measurement-based estimating for large-scale construction projects in NYC. You will develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates while collaborating with design teams and clients to deliver value engineering. With 7+ years of estimating experience, you will contribute to benchmarking and cost database development. This role offers a hybrid schedule (four days onsite) and growth into client-facing responsibilities.
What You'll Do8
- 1Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurement-based estimating for projects valued $35M+.
- 2Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates using CostX and Excel.
- 3Prepare cost plans, budgets, and feasibility studies that guide project decisions from concept to completion.
- 4Analyze drawings, specifications, and design documents to generate accurate pricing across civil, architectural, facade, and roofing scopes.
- 5Collaborate with design teams and clients to provide cost advice and value engineering options that preserve project intent.
- 6Evaluate market conditions, labor trends, and escalation factors to refine cost models and forecasts.
- 7Contribute to benchmarking and cost database development by leveraging historical data and industry standards.
- 8Support client presentations and reporting deliverables with clear cost narratives and visual summaries.
Requirements9
- 17+ years of estimating experience in construction, with hands-on quantity take-offs and trade-level estimating.
- 2Experience in civil, architectural, facade, exterior, and roofing scopes.
- 3Strong technical foundation in measurement and take-offs, using tools like CostX, Bluebeam, or similar.
- 4Advanced proficiency in Excel-based cost modeling and analysis.
- 5Exposure to full lifecycle estimating, from concept through detailed design and construction.
- 6Experience working on large, complex construction projects in a consultant or GC preconstruction team.
- 7Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
- 8Eagerness to grow into client-facing responsibilities and support senior team members.
- 9MRICS certification is a strong plus, but not required.
