Epidemiology Data Scientist Lead, Surveillance Analytics
Overview
Lead the design and delivery of surveillance, epidemiology, and public health analytics programs at Guidehouse. Own the scientific strategy and quality assurance for complex health data products used in population health decisions. Direct multidisciplinary teams across SAS, R, Python, and SQL to modernize data environments with cloud and AI capabilities. Drive modernization via Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or Palantir Foundry. This role combines scientific leadership with client-facing advisory and business development.
What You'll Do10
- 1Serve as the lead epidemiology and surveillance subject matter expert across public health analytics initiatives.
- 2Lead surveillance strategy, epidemiologic methodology, and data interpretation for large-scale programs.
- 3Oversee development of surveillance datasets, analytic products, dashboards, and reports.
- 4Guide advanced epidemiologic analyses, statistical modeling, and trend analysis with SAS and R.
- 5Conduct quality assurance reviews of data, methods, and findings to ensure scientific rigor.
- 6Advise clients on surveillance strategy, data modernization, and analytic best practices.
- 7Direct multidisciplinary teams of epidemiologists, analysts, and data scientists.
- 8Translate complex findings into strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
- 9Support modernization of surveillance environments with Python, SQL, and cloud tools.
- 10Lead scientific dissemination and support business development for the Health AI practice.
Requirements10
- 110+ years in epidemiology, surveillance, or public health analytics.
- 2Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or Public Health.
- 3Experience leading large-scale surveillance programs and multidisciplinary teams.
- 4Expertise in epidemiologic methods and statistical analysis with SAS or R.
- 5Proficiency with Python or SQL for data analysis.
- 6U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status and ability to obtain a federal Public Trust clearance.
- 7Experience with HIV surveillance data or national surveillance initiatives.
- 8Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or Palantir Foundry.
- 9Doctoral degree in a related field preferred.
- 10Experience with machine learning or AI applications in public health.
