Environmental Program Manager - AWS Warehousing & Transportation
Overview
You will own the AWS Warehousing & Transportation environmental compliance portfolio across AMER, covering RDCs, MFCs, and DCFCs. This ground-floor role builds compliance programs from scratch for a fast-growing footprint. You will partner with real estate, construction, and operations teams to embed environmental requirements into every facility lifecycle stage. What You'll Do10
- 1Own and evolve the MOTO Warehousing & Transportation environmental compliance program across RDC, MFC, and DCFC facilities.
- 2Lead environmental due diligence for new facility acquisitions, including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and pre-lease screening.
- 3Partner with real estate and construction teams to embed environmental compliance into buildout timelines and contracts.
- 4Build and maintain compliance coverage through facility inventory, applicability screening, and risk-based prioritization.
- 5Manage hazardous materials permitting, monitoring, and Tier II/EPCRA reporting across all sites.
- 6Develop and implement SWPPPs for applicable facilities and ensure NPDES permit compliance.
- 7Establish spill prevention and emergency response protocols, including incident investigations and corrective actions.
- 8Oversee waste characterization, manifesting, and disposal compliance under RCRA and universal waste rules.
- 9Develop waste reduction and circular economy initiatives with measurable targets.
- 10Drive environmental compliance for vendors and contractors through lease language and performance audits.
Requirements9
- 15+ years in environmental compliance, permitting, and waste management, with Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
- 2Proven experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and environmental due diligence for acquisitions.
- 3Hands-on SWPPP development and stormwater permit compliance under NPDES.
- 4Direct experience managing RCRA hazardous waste and Tier II/EPCRA reporting.
- 5Track record of leading environmental programs across multiple warehouse, logistics, or distribution sites.
- 6Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, DOT hazmat).
- 7Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- 8Preferred: Experience in warehousing, fulfillment, or last-mile delivery environmental compliance.
- 9Preferred: Experience with greenfield permitting and construction-phase environmental monitoring.
