Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Overview
You will own the EHS program for a tech-driven talent solutions firm in New York, ensuring compliance across OSHA, EPA, and NYC regulations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll partner with a 25+ year legacy team to build safety culture. This role stands out by giving you full authority to reshape EHS strategy and drive measurable risk reduction.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build a 90-day safety audit plan for New York offices, closing gaps in OSHA and EPA compliance.
- 2Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions using ISO 45001 frameworks.
- 3Design training programs for HazCom, PPE, and emergency response, boosting team readiness.
- 4Drive a behavior-based safety initiative that cuts recordable incidents by 20% in year one.
- 5Evaluate and improve contractor safety processes through SWMS and JSA reviews.
- 6Scale digital reporting with EHS software to track KPIs and regulatory updates.
- 7Own permits, audits, and filings for NYC DEP and FDNY requirements.
- 8Ship monthly safety newsletters and toolbox talks that engage staff across hybrid worksites.
Requirements7
- 15+ years in EHS management, including OSHA compliance audits.
- 2Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or CIH required.
- 3Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation.
- 4Strong knowledge of NYC and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, DEP).
- 5Hands-on with incident investigation methods (5-Why, Fishbone).
- 6Track record of delivering safety training and culture programs.
- 7Willingness to be onsite in New York at least 3 days/week.
