Employment Paralegal, Litigation & Discovery in LA
Overview
Own critical pieces of employment litigation at scale within a growing California practice. You will work directly with the lead employment attorney on active matters, handling discovery, pleadings, filings, subpoenas, and trial preparation. You will help build and refine systems and workflows as the team expands, supporting hybrid work and a strong benefits package. This role blends ownership with collaboration across a hands on litigation practice.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and manage discovery responses, pleadings, and filing documents for state and federal courts
- 2Design and issue subpoenas and related litigation notices under attorney direction
- 3Coordinate service of process, records requests, and case logistics to ensure timely compliance
- 4Monitor court calendars, deadlines, hearings, depositions, and other critical events to prevent delays
- 5Prepare trial exhibits and related materials to support upcoming proceedings
- 6Organize and maintain document production lists, filing shells, and electronic case files
- 7Maintain accurate case documents in Dropbox and firm platforms and ensure document integrity
- 8Proofread and finalize legal documents for accuracy and consistency before attorney review
- 9Assist with fact investigation and drafting of complaints and other pleadings
- 10Contribute to workflow improvements and case-management enhancements as the practice grows
Requirements7
- 12+ years of paralegal experience with a strong litigation background
- 2Experience with discovery, subpoenas, pleadings, court filings, and litigation documents
- 3Working knowledge of California state and federal court procedures and deadlines
- 4Excellent organization, attention to detail, and deadline management
- 5Ability to manage multiple matters and take ownership of assignments
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 7Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field preferred
