Litigation Paralegal, Trial & Discovery
Overview
You will own discovery, filings, and trial prep for a boutique law firm's active litigation docket. You'll report directly to the managing attorney and collaborate with two other paralegals. Your work spans state and federal courts, with exposure to transactional matters. This role offers direct client contact and a clear path to senior paralegal.
What You'll Do8
- 1Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- 2Prepare and file legal documents in federal and state courts, using e-filing systems like PACER and LexisNexis File & Serve.
- 3Issue and track subpoenas, coordinating service and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- 4Manage case files and evidence, maintaining an organized system in Smokeball or similar software.
- 5Track court deadlines and ensure compliance with local and federal rules.
- 6Conduct legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- 7Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- 8Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel to resolve logistical issues.
Requirements9
- 1Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
- 23+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on discovery and trial support.
- 3Hands-on experience responding to discovery requests.
- 4Experience filing in federal and state courts, including e-filing.
- 5Proven ability to prepare and manage subpoenas.
- 6Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- 7Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 8Self-sufficient in managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
- 9Proficiency with legal software and e-filing systems; Smokeball experience preferred.
Salary Insight
$73 - $87k per year
