Overview
You will represent Nilo Brands, a growing consumer goods company, in all employment litigation matters across California. You will own the full lifecycle of cases: strategy, filings, hearings, and mediations. You will work with internal stakeholders to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with California employment law. This freelance role offers direct impact on company policy and defense strategy.
What You'll Do7
- 1Represent the company in employment litigation cases from inception through trial or settlement
- 2Develop legal strategies to protect company interests in California courts
- 3Provide legal counsel on employment-related issues to HR and management
- 4Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents in compliance with California rules
- 5Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and court proceedings as required
- 6Collaborate with internal teams to assess legal risks and recommend practical solutions
- 7Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations across all cases
Requirements7
- 1Active member in good standing with the California Bar
- 25+ years of experience defending employers in employment litigation
- 3Deep knowledge of California employment law, including wage and hour, discrimination, and wrongful termination
- 4Proven litigation skills: motion practice, discovery, and trial experience
- 5Strong negotiation and communication skills for mediations and settlements
- 6Ability to appear in California courts as needed
- 7Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple cases
