Employment Law Attorney, PAGA & Wage Hour Defense
Overview
You will own a diverse employment defense caseload, primarily PAGA and wage-hour class/representative actions, with 3+ years of litigation experience in California. You will join a fully remote defense firm, handling cases from intake to trial across DFEH, EEOC, and DLSE proceedings. The team values autonomy, collaborative culture, and mentorship. This role offers direct client contact and strategic leadership on high-stakes employment disputes.
What You'll Do7
- 1Defend PAGA claims and wage-hour class actions, crafting strategy and leading settlement negotiations.
- 2Manage all phases of litigation, from drafting pleadings and motions to discovery and trial preparation.
- 3Advise clients on FEHA compliance, including discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination risks.
- 4Conduct workplace investigations and prepare reports for harassment and discrimination allegations.
- 5Represent employers before DFEH, EEOC, and DLSE, plus mediations and arbitrations.
- 6Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, and handbooks to reduce litigation risk.
- 7Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals, overseeing case documentation and billing.
Requirements7
- 13+ years of employment litigation experience, defense or plaintiff side.
- 2Proven track record handling PAGA claims and wage-hour class actions.
- 3Active California bar membership in good standing.
- 4Experience with discrimination and FEHA matters.
- 5Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- 6Ability to manage a substantial caseload and meet deadlines.
- 7Comfortable mentoring junior team members in a remote setting.
Salary Insight
$170 - $200k per year
