Emergency Room Technician, Night Shift Minneapolis
Overview
Own patient transport, room readiness, and supply management in a Level I academic emergency department at UMMC West Bank. Support nurses and physicians across emergency medicine, behavioral health, and critical care. Work 12-hour night shifts in a collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes. This role offers direct exposure to complex cases and rapid response situations.
What You'll Do8
- 1Transport patients by wheelchair and cart to and from departments
- 2Assist patients with ambulation and positioning, ensuring safety
- 3Inform RNs of patient observations and concerns promptly
- 4Respond to patient call lights and requests immediately
- 5Obtain ordered specimens and transport them, plus blood products
- 6Document patient care activities clearly and accurately on nursing records
- 7Maintain room and unit supplies, restocking and cleaning between patients
- 8Perform quality control checks on designated equipment and report discrepancies
Requirements5
- 1BLS certification required
- 2One of: current EMT or ERT certification, Paramedic certification, CNA on MN Registry, enrolled in LPN/RN/NP program with 1+ clinical semester, 6+ months of hands-on patient care, or completed Fairview's OnTrack program
- 3LPN licensure accepted
- 4Preferred: 1+ years of Emergency Department experience
- 5Preferred: current CNA or NST experience
