Embedded Software Engineer, C++ & PLC Controls
Overview
You will own the software lifecycle for Electron Beam Welding and Additive Manufacturing control systems, from requirements to deployment. You will work with a team of engineers on C#, C++, LabVIEW, and PLC platforms. You will debug and commission systems at client sites, bridging hardware and software integration. What You'll Do8
- 1Plan and coordinate software requirements for Electron Beam Welding and Additive Manufacturing control systems, driving design and implementation.
- 2Maintain and upgrade existing control software, ensuring stability and real-time performance.
- 3Write and debug code in C#, C++, C, and LabVIEW within Visual Studio.
- 4Integrate PLC and HMI systems, implementing TwinCAT real-time control logic.
- 5Test and validate software on hardware, focusing on TCP/IP, UDP, and RS232 communication.
- 6Travel to client sites for installation, start-up, and commissioning of control systems.
- 7Manage source code with Git, enforcing version control best practices.
- 8Collaborate with hardware engineers on Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog conversions.
Requirements10
- 15+ years in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time control.
- 2Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent Controls/Automation experience.
- 3Proficiency in C#, C++, C, LabVIEW, and Visual Studio.
- 4Experience with hardware-software integration and communication protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, RS232).
- 5Strong knowledge of Git for version control.
- 6Experience with UNIX, VX-Works, or VME systems.
- 7U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR regulations.
- 8Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming.
- 9Preferred: TwinCAT real-time development experience.
- 10Preferred: electrical engineering knowledge and robotic programming skills.
