Overview

You build and test downhole Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS) and Logging While Drilling (LWD) tools in an R&D lab. Work with DMMs, oscilloscopes, and DC power supplies to validate performance. What You'll Do10

  • 1Assemble complete RSS and LWD tools from sections and subassemblies, integrating connectors and harnesses.
  • 2Execute functional tests with DMM, DC power supply, and oscilloscope to verify electrical performance.
  • 3Support thermal and oven testing to validate tool reliability under extreme conditions.
  • 4Troubleshoot electromechanical assemblies and isolate root causes of failures.
  • 5Build small electromechanical units from work instructions, schematics, and BOMs.
  • 6Use micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges to verify mechanical tolerances.
  • 7Operate hipot and continuity testers to check electrical integrity.
  • 8Inspect assemblies for defects like poor solder joints, FOD, or wiring issues.
  • 9Solder large mechanical and downhole tools for reliable connections.
  • 10Document build processes, test results, and troubleshooting steps for engineering teams.

Requirements10

  • 12+ years as an Electro-Mechanical Technician.
  • 2Hands-on experience assembling complex electromechanical tools.
  • 3Proficiency in soldering, including large mechanical and downhole tools.
  • 4Experience with DMM, DC power supply, and oscilloscope testing.
  • 5Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and schematics.
  • 6Skill with inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, pin gauges.
  • 7Knowledge of defect identification: solder joints, component orientation, FOD.
  • 8Capability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • 9Experience with preventive maintenance on electromechanical equipment.
  • 10Physical ability to sit or stand at a bench for extended periods.
