What You'll Do9
- 1Monitor and operate electrical distribution systems including switchgear transformers circuit breakers and power distribution panels
- 2Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on emergency generators UPS systems and automatic transfer switches
- 3Respond promptly to electrical system alarms troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime
- 4Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical systems according to safety codes and manufacturer specifications
- 5Maintain accurate records of electrical operations maintenance activities and regulatory compliance documentation
- 6Ensure compliance with electrical safety protocols OSHA regulations and facility-specific procedures
- 7Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and facility staff
- 8Utilize computerized maintenance management systems and basic computer applications
- 9Work flexible schedules including nights weekends and on-call rotations to support 24/7 facility operations
Requirements13
- 1High school diploma or equivalent with completion of a recognized electrical operating engineer training program or apprenticeship
- 2Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining commercial or industrial electrical systems
- 3Strong working knowledge of electrical distribution systems UPS emergency power generation and building automation controls
- 4Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings schematics single-line diagrams and technical documentation
- 5Demonstrated understanding of National Electrical Code NEC NFPA standards and local electrical safety regulations
- 6Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and basic computer applications
- 7Availability to work flexible schedules including nights weekends and on-call rotation
- 8Associate degree or technical certification in electrical engineering technology electrical systems or related field
- 9Experience with medium voltage electrical systems 600v and lower and advanced power distribution equipment
- 10Knowledge of building automation systems BAS energy management systems and integration with electrical infrastructure
- 11Certification in arc flash safety NFPA 70E electrical safety training or similar advanced electrical safety credentials
- 12Previous experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers healthcare facilities or large commercial industrial properties
- 13Familiarity with sustainable building practices energy efficiency technologies and utility demand management programs
