Electrical Design Manager, San Diego | Bergelectric
Overview
Own the electrical design process for Design Build and Design Assist projects at Bergelectric, from pursuit through delivery. You will lead design strategy during the proposal phase to win contracts, then drive design execution with engineering partners and project teams. Working onsite in San Diego, you will collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, and field teams to ensure code compliance, quality, and client satisfaction. PE certification and 5-7 years of experience position you to shape high-impact commercial projects.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead design development during the pursuit phase, creating concepts that win RFPs and interviews.
- 2Review bid documents to identify inconsistencies, conflicts, and problems, then issue RFIs to resolve them.
- 3Drive design quality control and budget management for awarded projects, ensuring schedules are met.
- 4Monitor design evolution with engineering partners to meet RFP goals and company standards.
- 5Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and eliminate waste.
- 6Stay current on National Electrical Code and Life Safety Code changes, applying new methods.
- 7Research and develop value-added options that enhance project outcomes.
- 8Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and project teams to ensure success.
- 9Interface with client representatives to maintain satisfaction and foster future work.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's Degree in electrical design or equivalent work experience.
- 25-7 years in electrical power, lighting, and systems design or design project management.
- 3Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- 4Ability to interpret contracts, plans, and specifications.
- 5Proficient in National Electrical Code and Life Safety Code.
- 6Strong project management training and skills.
- 7In-depth experience with LEAN methodologies.
- 8Process-oriented mindset with strategic thinking and detail orientation.
- 9Excellent verbal and written communication, including report preparation.
- 10Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
