
EH&S Site Operator, Laser Safety Testing
Overview
You will perform daily safety testing on Class 1 laser hardware systems in a secure, high-compliance environment at Tata Consultancy Services in Durham, NC. You will own the safety compliance and smooth operation of advanced hardware testing, directly supporting regulatory adherence. This onsite role offers a direct-hire position with a global IT leader, emphasizing precision and reliability in every shift.
What You'll Do7
- 1Conduct daily safety testing on Class 1 laser hardware systems to ensure compliance and workplace safety.
- 2Document test results and maintain accurate records for regulatory audits and internal reviews.
- 3Inspect laser equipment and safety interlocks to verify operational integrity.
- 4Report anomalies or safety hazards to the lead engineer immediately.
- 5Coordinate with engineering teams to schedule testing windows without disrupting production.
- 6Manage inventory of safety supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- 7Escalate non-compliance issues to the EH&S manager with corrective action recommendations.
Requirements8
- 11+ years in an environmental health and safety role, preferably with laser or optical hardware.
- 2Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI Z136 laser safety standards.
- 3High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in EH&S is a plus.
- 4Ability to work onsite in Durham, NC, on a full-time schedule.
- 5Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- 6Experience with safety testing in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
- 7Familiarity with Class 1 or Class 2 laser systems.
- 8Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds.
