Overview

Education Apprentice supports theatre education programs at People's Light in Malvern PA. This seasonal position involves classroom and administrative duties across multiple initiatives. The ideal candidate loves theatre making and wants to grow skills in supporting diverse learners.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Build and maintain logistics from spreadsheets to snack planning for various programmes
  • 2Design and execute classroom workshops for students of varying ages and abilities
  • 3Organize student matinee performances and in-school touring shows
  • 4Assist with New Voices Ensemble production coordination and event setup
  • 5Support Director of Education with grant documentation and program administration
  • 6Observe and collaborate with teaching artists across different theatre settings
  • 7Prepare materials for classroom instruction and institutional reporting
  • 8Maintain safe organized spaces for all programming activities
  • 9Develop communication with educators parents and theatre colleagues
  • 10Coordinate with local schools for outreach and program delivery
  • 11Contribute to day-to-day operations while learning non-profit arts management

Requirements11

  • 15+ years experience with children in educational or artistic settings
  • 2Bachelor's degree in theatre arts education or related field
  • 3Proven teaching or mentoring experience with students
  • 4Familiarity with theatrical terminology and safety protocols
  • 5Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • 6Previous administrative experience preferred but not required
  • 7Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • 8Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • 9Valid PA driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • 10Background check clearance for working with minors
  • 11Passion for community engagement and inclusive programming
