Donor Center Technician, Plasma Collection & Compliance
Overview
You own donor eligibility, plasma collection, and product processing at a busy donation center, ensuring safety and compliance with FDA and OSHA standards. You operate plasmapheresis equipment, monitor donor vitals, and maintain strict quality control. This role sits within a collaborative team focused on donor experience and regulatory integrity. You'll get hands-on with automated systems and cold-chain logistics, with direct impact on every donation.
What You'll Do9
- 1Determine donor eligibility through vitals, microhematocrit, and total protein testing, and register donors in the Donor Management System.
- 2Operate plasmapheresis equipment, respond to alarms, troubleshoot alerts, and disconnect donors safely.
- 3Collect and process plasma, handle sterile products, organize freezers, and prepare shipments per SOPs and transport regulations.
- 4Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, report malfunctions, and document variances.
- 5Maintain cleanliness and stock of donor areas, and dispose of biohazardous waste and spills per OSHA guidelines.
- 6Perform quality control checks on equipment and calibrate per manufacturer instructions.
- 7Document all procedures and results accurately in compliance with FDA and CLIA regulations.
- 8Oversee product safety by maintaining collection ratios and responding to adverse donor events.
- 9Troubleshoot machine issues and coordinate maintenance with the technical team.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 23 months experience in clerical or customer service preferred.
- 3State-required certification or license for plasma collection.
- 4Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office.
- 5Read, write, and understand English; bilingual Spanish preferred.
- 6Strong customer service and communication skills.
- 7Ability to interpret regulations and follow SOPs.
- 8Physical ability to lift 35 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in -40°C environments.
- 9Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
- 10Ability to travel up to 20% if required.
