Workday and payroll transformation leader who will own payroll operations across a multi-state population at scale. Lead strategic and operational initiatives to modernize processes, controls, and reporting within a hybrid Chevy Chase, MD setting. Collaborate with cross functional teams to design a scalable payroll operating model that supports organizational growth. Drive technology enabled improvements including AI driven insights and automation to reduce manual work and dependency on institutional knowledge.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and lead payroll transformation initiatives covering people, processes, systems, controls, and reporting to reduce risk and improve efficiency
  • 2Design and implement a modern payroll operating model that supports growth and multi state compliance
  • 3Optimize Workday Payroll functionality, configuration, reporting, workflows, and automation to achieve accuracy and speed
  • 4Identify inefficiencies and implement technology enabled solutions including AI to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency
  • 5Redesign payroll processes to minimize spreadsheets and manual workarounds and codify governance standards
  • 6Oversee wage and hour compliance, payroll tax requirements, deductions, and employee pay practices across jurisdictions
  • 7Establish payroll policies, procedures, controls, documentation, and governance standards
  • 8Coordinate with third party providers for payroll tax remittance, year end reporting, and related services
  • 9Support payroll requirements involving foreign nationals visa holders and other specialized populations
  • 10Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll regulations through ongoing monitoring and audits

Requirements6

  • 1At least 10 years of progressive payroll experience with leadership responsibility
  • 2Extensive Workday Payroll experience and ability to optimize beyond routine operations
  • 3Demonstrated experience transforming or modernizing payroll operations
  • 4Experience assessing manual or outdated payroll environments and implementing improved workflows controls and technology
  • 5Multi state payroll experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • 6Strong analytical and project management skills with a track record of delivering efficiencies and controls
