Director of Material Handling in Phoenix, AZ
Overview
This role owns the material flow system for a rapidly growing manufacturer in Phoenix, AZ. You will lead the team that moves over 1 million parts from receiving through warehouse operations to the assembly line. You will design and execute a lean, pull-based system that delivers components to the right station, in the right sequence, at the right time. Your work directly drives production speed, inventory accuracy, and operational performance. This is a build-and-scale role for a leader who has created world-class material handling systems, not maintained them.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and implement a lean, pull-based material handling system including PFEP, Kanban, line-side delivery, supermarkets, milk runs, and pull replenishment.
- 2Lead the warehouse and material handling team for a high-volume manufacturing operation with 1 million+ parts in inventory at any time.
- 3Drive safety, inventory accuracy, and productivity by establishing daily management systems and operating disciplines.
- 4Implement material presentation standards to ensure components arrive at assembly stations in sequence and on time.
- 5Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to align material flow with production schedules.
- 6Scale systems and processes to support aggressive growth in a complex manufacturing environment.
- 7Own warehouse design and layout to optimize material flow and space utilization.
- 8Develop and coach a high-performing team of supervisors and associates, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements7
- 110+ years leading material handling, manufacturing logistics, or warehouse operations in a large-scale manufacturing environment.
- 2Proven success designing and implementing lean material flow systems including PFEP, Kanban, line-side delivery, supermarkets, milk runs, and pull replenishment.
- 3Experience managing warehouse operations with over 1 million parts in inventory at any given time.
- 4Strong understanding of warehouse design, inventory accuracy, material presentation, and replenishment strategies.
- 5Demonstrated success building scalable systems and processes in a growing manufacturing operation.
- 6Hands-on leadership style with ability to work cross-functionally across Manufacturing, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
- 7Experience supporting complex products requiring hundreds of components delivered to manufacturing stations with precision and consistency.
Salary Insight
$175 - $225k per year
