Director of Manufacturing Operations, Quantum Technologies
Overview
Lead manufacturing and program development for Infleqtion's optical clock quantum technologies, owning the bridge from advanced development to scalable production. You will drive build schedules, manufacturing readiness, and process maturation, partnering with Engineering, T&F leadership, Quality, Supply Chain, and QSS. This hands-on role scales optical clock systems from prototype to pilot production, establishing the people, processes, and infrastructure needed for repeatable manufacturing. You will shape a culture of disciplined execution and continuous improvement in a cutting-edge quantum hardware environment.
What You'll Do8
- 1Oversee manufacturing operations for prototype, engineering development, qualification, and pilot-production builds of optical clock systems, ensuring schedule and quality targets are met.
- 2Establish and mature manufacturing processes that transition new quantum technologies from lab to repeatable production, defining routers, work instructions, tooling, and test capabilities.
- 3Develop the manufacturing strategy, operating model, staffing plan, and equipment roadmap to support program objectives and future production growth.
- 4Lead new product introduction (NPI) readiness reviews, driving design-for-manufacturability with engineering and ensuring BOM, tooling, and materials are ready for each build.
- 5Drive process definition, characterization, and validation for assembly, integration, test, and inspection, applying lean and statistical methods to improve quality and throughput.
- 6Own key manufacturing metrics including schedule performance, first-pass yield, cycle time, and labor efficiency, and implement dashboards for real-time visibility.
- 7Collaborate with supply chain to secure long-lead components and with quality to establish traceability and configuration control appropriate to product maturity.
- 8Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing manufacturing team, defining roles and career paths to support rapid development and disciplined execution.
Requirements8
- 18+ years leading manufacturing operations for complex, highly engineered hardware, including NPI and production readiness.
- 2Proven experience transitioning products from prototype to pilot production, with a strong understanding of manufacturing engineering and configuration management.
- 3Ability to build manufacturing processes and organizations in maturing environments, with demonstrated cross-functional leadership across engineering, quality, and supply chain.
- 4Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using data to drive decisions and improvements across metrics like yield and cycle time.
- 5Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, physics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 6Experience with low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing, especially in optical, photonic, vacuum, or RF systems.
- 7Familiarity with ERP/MRP, MES, PLM, and manufacturing data systems for tracking and traceability.
- 8Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or TOC methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
