Senior Embedded Software Engineer, HPC & Quantum Orchestration
Overview
You will own high-performance software systems that orchestrate computation across classical and quantum hardware, targeting 5+ years of embedded systems impact at Infleqtion's Quantum Computing Product Group. You will integrate CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and high-speed interconnects with quantum devices, solving latency and throughput bottlenecks in distributed, performance-critical environments. Collaborating with physicists and engineers, you will build scalable quantum-classical computing platforms, prototyping new technologies as the ecosystem evolves. What You'll Do10
- 1Design and implement high-performance software coordinating computation across CPU, GPU, and FPGA resources for quantum-classical systems.
- 2Build interfaces and components that manage data movement across heterogeneous computing platforms and high-speed interconnects.
- 3Develop systems meeting strict latency, throughput, and reliability requirements for real-time quantum control and data processing.
- 4Profile and optimize system performance, identifying bottlenecks in Linux, drivers, and networking stacks to improve scalability.
- 5Create test infrastructure, benchmarks, and observability tools to validate complex computing systems under demanding conditions.
- 6Troubleshoot cross-layer issues spanning applications, operating systems, firmware, and hardware, driving root-cause resolution.
- 7Collaborate with software, physics, and systems engineering teams to integrate quantum hardware with classical orchestration.
- 8Mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews, and shape technical documentation for maintainable, production-grade software.
- 9Prototype and evaluate emerging technologies in HPC and quantum computing to guide platform evolution.
- 10Provide technical guidance on CUDA or similar programming models for accelerator integration.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of professional embedded software development with C++, C, Rust, or Python.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3Experience building performance-critical, distributed, or high-performance computing systems.
- 4Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, debugging, version control, code review, and maintainable design.
- 5Deep understanding of computer systems: concurrency, memory, networking, data movement, latency, and throughput.
- 6Proficiency in Linux environments and diagnosing complex issues across software and hardware layers.
- 7Ability to work across engineering disciplines and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
- 8Experience with GPU or accelerator programming using CUDA or similar models is highly valued.
- 9Knowledge of HPC schedulers like Slurm or PBS, or high-speed interconnects such as InfiniBand or RoCE is beneficial.
