Director of Liturgy Job in Winter Park, FL
Overview
You own the liturgical life of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, planning and executing six weekend liturgies in two languages with 600 volunteer ministers across 20 ministries. You will work alongside an established Liturgy Team to shape worship that honors Catholic tradition and progressive solemnity. This role demands a deep understanding of Catholic liturgical theology and practical skill in recruiting, forming, and empowering volunteers. Your work directly serves a dynamic parish within the Diocese of Orlando, requiring presence at evening and weekend liturgies.
What You'll Do10
- 1Plan and coordinate all weekend liturgies and seasonal celebrations, ensuring adherence to Catholic liturgical norms and parish vision.
- 2Partner with the Liturgy Team to prepare liturgical environment, music, and ministers for each Mass.
- 3Recruit, train, and support volunteer ministers across 20 ministries, fostering pastoral relationships and clear accountability.
- 4Implement and manage liturgical schedules using Microsoft 365 and parish management software.
- 5Collaborate with clergy and staff to integrate the Diocese of Orlando core values of authenticity, respect, courage, and commitment into all worship.
- 6Oversee liturgical supplies and resources, with attention to budget.
- 7Promote and develop Spanish-language liturgical resources and support bilingual worship
- 8Evaluate and improve volunteer formation programs to sustain and grow ministry participation.
- 9Lead preparations for special liturgical seasons and events, including Holy Week and Christmas.
- 10Maintain open communication with parish leaders and volunteers through meetings, emails, and bulletins.
Requirements10
- 12-5 years of prior parish liturgical leadership experience.
- 2Strong understanding of Catholic liturgical theology, praxis, and norms.
- 3Bachelor's or Master's degree in Liturgical Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Theology, or equivalent education.
- 4Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and parish management software.
- 5Experience recruiting, forming, and empowering volunteers for ministry.
- 6Exceptional interpersonal skills for pastoral engagement and clear guidance in verbal and written formats.
- 7Fluency in English and Spanish preferred; familiarity with basic liturgical Spanish resources and texts required.
- 8Practice of the Catholic faith is required, with public behavior consistent with Church mission and morals.
- 9Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed, and to function well under pressure.
- 10Physical ability to perform light lifting (up to 10 pounds) and sit/stand for extended periods.
