Director of Infrastructure Engineering | $7-$8/hr Remote
Overview
A remote leadership role steering the platform that powers production AI systems. You’ll own cloud strategy across multi-cloud environments, guide developer platforms, and ensure security, observability, and resilience as the system scales. This position blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership to build reliable infrastructure and mentor a growing team.
What You'll Do8
- 1Shape and evolve our multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP for scalability, reliability, security, and cost control
- 2Lead and develop a high-performing Infrastructure/Platform Engineering team and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
- 3Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform to deliver reproducible, versioned, and auditable environments
- 4Design and enhance CI/CD pipelines that support rapid, secure software delivery
- 5Establish comprehensive observability with metrics, logs, traces, and alerting to detect and resolve issues proactively
- 6Define reliability practices including incident response, on-call rotations, SLOs, error budgets, disaster recovery, and blameless postmortems
- 7Collaborate with Security and Engineering leadership to bake in security and maintain compliance with frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, and CMMC
- 8Improve developer experience by reducing friction through automation and targeted platform tooling
Requirements8
- 18+ years building and operating production infrastructure or platform engineering systems
- 23+ years leading engineering teams in fast-growing settings
- 3Deep expertise with multi-cloud environments such as AWS and GCP
- 4Strong background with Terraform, Kubernetes, containerization, and modern CI/CD platforms
- 5Proven track record delivering highly available, observable, and resilient production services
- 6Solid understanding of infrastructure security, compliance, and risk management
- 7Experience scaling infrastructure in startup environments and guiding engineering organizations
- 8Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence strategy across teams and leadership

Salary Insight
